Faculty of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law

In order to foster unity and closer alignment among followers of Islamic sects, and in response to the pressing need for new research based on the comparison of sects to enrich their studies and examinations, the Faculty of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law was established in October 2021. The faculty includes the academic departments of Ja'fari (Imamiyyah) Jurisprudence and Law, Shafi'i Jurisprudence and Law, and Hanafi Jurisprudence and Law. A distinctive feature of the courses offered in these fields, compared to similar programs at other universities, is that the courses at this faculty are taught in a comparative manner between the perspectives of Shi'a and Sunni traditions.

The faculty aims to provide structured and organized teachings in Islamic jurisprudence and law to students from both Shi'a and Sunni backgrounds at various academic levels.

Objectives of the Faculty

- Teaching Islamic jurisprudence and law through a comparative approach;

- Enhancing unity among followers of Islamic sects and enriching Islamic research;

- Training scholars and researchers proficient in Islamic jurisprudence;

- Educating religious experts for both national and international service across various Islamic sects;

- Preparing Islamic studies teachers, qualified lawyers, and judges;

- Cultivating experts in cultural and religious propagation both inside and outside Iran.

Mission of the Faculty

The primary mission of this faculty, in line with the foundational policies of the International University of Islamic Denominations (IUID), is to promote unity and convergence among Islamic sects. To this end, the faculty benefits from the valuable contributions of esteemed Shi'a and Sunni professors. Alongside comparative jurisprudential courses, the faculty strives to foster practical and behavioral unity among Shi'a and Sunni students and professors. By the grace of God, significant achievements have been made in this area. The faculty has been enriched by the presence of distinguished scholars such as Professor Abdulkarim Bi'azar Shirazi, Professor Ahmad Moballeghi, Professor Khalil Ghoblaei, Professor Mohammad Hossein Mokhtari, Molavi Mohammad Es'haq Madani, Professor Ahmad Narouei, and Professor Nazirahmad Salami.
