Office of University–Society Relations
The Office of University–Society Relations works to strengthen the connection between the university and society and to fulfill the mission of the International University of Islamic Denominations in providing scientific solutions to cultural and social challenges, particularly in the Islamic world.
The Office seeks to identify real societal problems and needs and direct the university’s academic and research capacities toward problem-oriented, applied, and impactful research. It also facilitates the use of the knowledge and expertise of faculty members and researchers in addressing societal challenges.
The university’s strategic document emphasizes systematic and targeted education and research, knowledge production, responsiveness to the needs of the Islamic community, and the provision of scientific solutions to common cultural and social challenges in the Islamic world.
As a bridge between the university and executive bodies, cultural and social institutions, organizations, academic and research centers, and other sectors of society, the Office facilitates the identification of cooperation opportunities and the development of joint projects and activities.
Main Areas of Activity
- Identifying and prioritizing societal research issues and needs;
- Establishing a database of research issues and needs of various institutions and organizations;
- Establishing effective links between faculty members and social organizations and institutions;
- Identifying the university’s capacities for responding to cultural, social, and academic issues;
- Facilitating the development and implementation of joint, problem-oriented research projects;
- Following up on the conclusion, activation, and implementation of scientific and research cooperation agreements;
- Expanding cooperation with executive bodies, cultural and social institutions, and academic and research centers;
- Identifying research opportunities and funding sources outside the university;
- Following up on the utilization and application of university research findings in society;
- Documenting achievements and evaluating the impact of university research on solving societal problems.
The Office is therefore not merely an administrative intermediary for establishing institutional contacts. Rather, it provides a platform for transforming real societal problems into research topics and converting the university’s scientific achievements into practical solutions.
By relying on the capacities of faculty members, researchers, and the university’s academic network, the Office seeks to establish a sustainable two-way relationship among the university, society, and academic and executive institutions, thereby enhancing the social impact of research and contributing to the university’s mission of serving the Islamic community.
