Holding of a Special Academic Session on Iran and Japan at the International University of Islamic Denominations

To mark nearly a century of friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan, a special academic session was held on Monday, Azar 17, in the conference hall of the International University of Islamic Denominations.

This meeting was organized with the aim of developing and deepening scientific, cultural, and academic relations between the two countries. At the beginning of the event, Dr. Masoud Shavarani, the secretary of the meeting, welcomed the attendees and touched upon the history of cooperation between the university and the Embassy of Japan. He noted that the university hosted the Japanese

Ambassador Mr. Tamaki Tsukada last year, which subsequently led to valuable collaborations—including the organization of specialized seminars and the receipt of a collection of significant books from Japanese academic institutions.

He outlined a future vision for these relations that involves expanding connections and increasing engagement with Japanese universities, academic institutions, and scholars. He expressed hope that this meeting would pave the way for broader cooperation and the signing of scientific memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with like-minded Japanese universities.

Subsequently, Dr. Mohammad Hadi Fallahzadeh, Head of the International University of Islamic Denominations, extended a warm welcome and stated that hosting the Japanese Ambassador was an honor for the university. He emphasized that, occurring on the eve of the 100th anniversary of Iran-Japan relations, this meeting serves as a reminder of the deep ties between the two nations and represents a fresh opportunity to open new avenues for collaboration with Japanese universities.

Referring to the university’s targeted cooperation with Japanese academic centers, he remarked, "With its rich history of peaceful coexistence, Japan can serve as an excellent model for future research." The university president added, "The International University of Islamic Denominations is founded on the principle of convergence; in this spirit, we are prepared to engage in extensive cooperation with Japanese universities. The core tenet of all religions is the elevation of the human being, and this principle can serve as a foundation for shared scientific and cultural engagement."

Furthermore, he expressed his appreciation for the books donated by Japanese institutions, describing these resources as valuable and highly beneficial to the university.
